Central Mat Su rescue personnel remove a student from a school bus after a two vehicle accident in front of Teeland Middle School in Wasilla on Friday, September 13. Roy Lee Mathews III of Wasilla was driving west on Seldon extention when the bus, driven by Devona Wilcox, tried to cross the street. Mathews t-boned the bus near the rear axle. 37 students were on the bus and nine were taken to Valley Hospital with minor injuries. Mathews suffered serious internal injuries. Troopers cited Wilcox for failure to yield but the accident is still under investigation. Two rescue trucks and an engine from the Central Mat Su Fire Department and four ambulances responded to the scene. (Stephen Nowers/Anchorage Daily News) 020913
